Spar tree loading a railcar at International Timber Co. operations near Campbell River
Information from back of photograph: This spar tree was one of two used in this operation. Note the mainline (a cable of perhaps 2 1/4 inches) and the carriage for transporting logs from one spar tree to the other (about 2000 feet away). The carriage would be moved by a donkey engine from tree to tree, drop logs into a pile, and a loading boom with tongs would be used to lift the logs onto the train.
